he 8th Balkan Botanical Congress will be hosted at the premises of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The plenary hall of the congress, the Great Hall, is the jewel of the neoclassical main building of the institute, where the most important academic events take place. The hall is a contemporary congress venue providing state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, while it is decorated with a series of emblematic sculptures and exquisite paintings, creating a panorama of architectural treasures. A large number of scientific and cultural activities are organized every year either under the auspices of the University alone or in cooperation with other institutions such as Ministries, Universities, Embassies, Cultural Centres and Organizations, Museums, etc.
The congress sessions will be hosted in Amphitheatre “Alkis Argyriadis” named honoring the memory of Law School Professor, Alkis Argyriadis, Vice-Rector of the University (1983 to 1986).
